Customer Accountant (M/F)

About the role

AGL, Africa Global Logistics, a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Customer Accountant in Uganda on a fixed-term contract. The role manages customer invoices, credit notes and receivables, ensuring compliance with EFRIS and URA and keeping customer balances accurate.

Key responsibilities

• Issue customer invoices in EFRIS, including VAT and non-VAT invoices, and manually invoice VIPAK invoices; validate invoice number, customer TIN and currency
• Process credit notes end to end, coordinate approvals with Operations and Finance, review supporting documents and raise credit notes in EFRIS and submit them to URA for approval
• Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations of the ERP sales journal and EFRIS sales journal, and allocate customer payments including partial and advance payments
• Monitor spot invoices not integrated into EFRIS and prepare weekly reports on rejected credit notes and monthly credit note reports
• Maintain complete customer files, prepare documentation for audit and tax reviews, and ensure compliance with internal controls such as Sapin II anti-corruption requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in customer accounting, receivables or general accounting
• Hands-on experience with customer invoicing and credit note processing
• Exposure to tax and regulatory requirements, including EFRIS and URA
• Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) are an added advantage

Required skills

• Experience with an ERP or accounting system; SAP is an added advantage
• Strong computer literacy, including Excel
• Analytical, detail-oriented and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
