Database Support Engineer (APAC)

About the role

Supabase, the Postgres development platform, is looking for an experienced Database Support Engineer to join its Support Team. You will help developers unblock complex issues, build more reliably and get the most out of the platform, working closely with customers and engineering. The role suits someone who thrives in async, fast-paced environments and wants to build developer tools that scale to millions. It is fully remote and requires a location within APAC time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve advanced customer issues across Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, Edge Functions and client libraries
• Offer proactive, consultative advice to optimize workloads and guide advanced users
• Reproduce bugs, isolate root causes, propose workarounds and escalate to engineering with clear reproduction steps
• Turn incomplete reports into actionable cases through targeted questions
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with users of all levels, especially in urgent situations
• Spot patterns across tickets and recommend improvements to documentation, tooling and the product
• Mentor junior team members and raise the bar for support quality

Required profile

• 7+ years in technical support, databases, backend engineering, SRE or similar roles
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, including autovacuum, WAL growth, long-running transactions and table bloat
• Strong high-performance SQL and query optimization skills
• Comfortable troubleshooting complex setups, including multi-tenant schemas and distributed systems
• Experience handling data migration issues (pg_dump/restore, schema drift, failed migrations)
• Ability to form and test assumptions quickly in high-volume situations
