Senior IT Implementation Consultant

About the role

OpenFn is an open-source platform for public service automation and AI orchestration, helping governments and NGOs deliver public services more efficiently. Its team, Open Function Group, is a lean, fully remote group of integration specialists, solution architects and implementation consultants. As a Senior IT Implementation Consultant, you will join the small team as a lead consultant on key implementations with government ministries and large NGOs, reporting to the Head of Implementation. The role is remote, with a strong preference for candidates in Africa or Europe time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Consult with technical and non-technical teams of government and NGO partners to understand their business processes and identify automation opportunities.
• Design and help deliver workflow automation solutions using the OpenFn platform, AI and other implementation specialists.
• Conduct remote discovery calls and workshops, and work with software engineers to develop API specifications and implement OpenFn workflows.
• Train and coach team members and partner implementers on solution design and implementation best practices.
• Ensure customer success across the project portfolio through project delivery, team leadership and stakeholder collaboration.

Required profile

• 7-10+ years of experience in data or technology fields such as data integration, workflow automation, consulting, business analysis, data management, software development or systems administration.
• 3-5+ years in a consulting or customer-facing role providing technical advisory, IT implementation, training or customer service.
• Fluent English; French and/or Spanish is a major advantage.
• Willingness to travel internationally at least twice per year.
• Ability to work from home or a shared office with fast, stable internet, preferably in Africa or Europe time zones.

Required skills

• Comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with information systems, mobile data collection apps and data analysis tools (SQL databases, CRMs, BI tools).
• Advantageous: REST API fundamentals, JSON, JavaScript, Postman, and workflow automation tools such as OpenFn, Camunda, n8n, Zapier, Make.com, OpenHIM, Mulesoft or WSO2.
• Advantageous: BPMN/UML, ETL, software testing, technical specifications, IT project management, and a background in international development, GovTech or global health.
