Field Officer - Community Health Project

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is hiring three Field Officers for the Central, East and West regions of Uganda for an anticipated five-year health systems strengthening project. The project supports the sustainability of faith-based health services through stronger institutional capacity, better community health financing, improved governance and locally led solutions. The position reports to the Program Manager I - Community Based Health Insurance and is open to Ugandan nationals only; recruitment is contingent on the project's award.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor project activities at field level so implementation schedules are met and quality standards are followed.
• Facilitate information sharing among the project team, implementing partners and community participants, and help strengthen community support networks.
• Supervise, mentor and monitor Public Service Providers and other community implementers for quality service, compliance with standards, timely reporting and target achievement.
• Mobilize community leaders, representatives and local government officials to take part in project activities.
• Support capacity-building events for community representatives and coordinate, monitor and report on volunteer activities.
• Compile community data and contribute to reports, and support partner capacity strengthening through coaching and mentoring.
• Ensure activities meet CRS quality standards, donor requirements and national guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration or a related field; additional education may substitute for some experience.
• 3-5 years of work or volunteer experience in community development and mobilization; a Bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of one or more local languages used in the project areas is highly desirable.
• Field-based work in Central, East and West Uganda; no supervisory responsibilities.
