About the role
WorkRemits is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its on‑site team in Uganda. You will manage day‑to‑day financial operations, support payroll and vendor payments, and ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards.
Key responsibilities
- Record, reconcile and post journal entries, invoices, receipts and payments.
- Maintain accurate general ledger, accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority requirements, including VAT and Income Tax filings.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent preferred.
- 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in outsourcing, audit or shared services.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax regulations and cross‑border accounting.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a diverse, cross‑functional team.
Required skills
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
