Head, Business Origination

About the role

KCB Group is hiring a Head, Business Origination in Kampala (Kamwokya). The role leads the implementation of the credit origination strategy for Corporate Banking in line with the group's strategy, covering credit analysis, covenant monitoring, compliance and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the implementation of the credit origination strategy in line with the overall Corporate Banking strategy.
• Evaluate credit applications, including structure, tenor, risk versus return and the effectiveness of risk mitigants; make sound decisions within delegated sanctioning authority.
• Analyse credit applications against the bank's credit appetite and the profitability of each deal.
• Identify and manage high-risk accounts and take corrective action when risk becomes unacceptable.
• Monitor facilities booked in Kenya by other KCB Group subsidiaries so they remain performing, and track approved covenants as agreed.
• Present applications to the credit committee and delegated credit evaluators.
• Ensure compliance, anti-money laundering and sanctions requirements are followed, including enhanced due diligence for onboarding and ongoing business.
• Support corporate business units in delivering excellent service, help relationship managers negotiate term sheets, and champion customer retention through improved service and faster query resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree in finance or a business-related field is listed as preferred.
• Certificate in Commercial Credit; professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA or AKIB are listed as preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in the financial sector.
