Hospital Manager – Lead Operations & Clinical Governance

About the role

The Hospital Manager reports to the Director of Impact Enterprise and leads the overall performance of Marie Stopes Hospital, ensuring safe, high-quality, client-centred healthcare through effective leadership of clinical and non-clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to all hospital departments.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective service delivery.
• Develop and implement operational plans aligned with organizational objectives.
• Oversee day-to-day hospital operations, optimizing staffing, equipment and facilities.
• Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health regulations, clinical governance standards and accreditation requirements.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and infection prevention measures.
• Manage hospital budget, monitor financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records in ERP and hospital information systems and ensure data quality.
• Build and sustain relationships with government agencies, partners and suppliers.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, Business Administration (MBA), Public Health or a related field.
• Minimum six years progressive senior management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting, including at least four years in a senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in hospital operations, strategic planning, financial management and quality improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP systems and hospital information systems.
• Strong knowledge of Uganda Ministry of Health regulations, healthcare quality standards and hospital accreditation requirements.
