HR Service Expert (Housekeeper)

About the role

JW Marriott in Kampala is hiring a full-time, non-management HR Service Expert (housekeeper) to keep its public and employee areas clean and tidy. The role covers cleaning, light maintenance support and guest service, and requires following company and safety policies.

Key responsibilities

• Clean public and employee restrooms, showers, glass and floor surfaces using designated chemicals, supplies and equipment.
• Dust surfaces in the assigned area and empty trash containers, ashtrays and ash urns in public areas.
• Inspect furniture for tears, rips and stains and report damage; clean and maintain lights; post caution signs when needed and contact other departments for urgent repairs.
• Respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments and report maintenance issues and safety hazards.
• Welcome guests, anticipate their needs, assist people with disabilities and thank them sincerely.
• Follow safety and security policies, store flammable materials properly and complete required safety training.
• Perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.

Required profile

• No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• No related work experience or supervisory experience required.
• No license or certification required.

Required skills

• Ability to lift and move objects up to 55 pounds alone, and to push and pull machinery on uneven surfaces.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and stooping.
• Visual inspection of tools and equipment, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to stand, sit, kneel or walk for an extended shift and to move through narrow or elevated spaces.
