Lifting Supervisor (Oil & Gas)

About the role

Q-Sourcing Limited, trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec, a manpower management firm operating across East Africa, is recruiting a competent, skilled and experienced Lifting Supervisor for its client MOTAENGIL in Uganda. The role covers all lifting operations on the project, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Dimension load lifting accessories (beads, shackles, chains) and update load schematics in AutoCAD
• Calculate loads and interpret load diagrams to ensure safe lifting
• Supervise lifting activities according to the approved lifting plan
• Ensure only registered crane operators, certified signalers and riggers take part, and that ground conditions are safe
• Verify daily equipment checks by crane operators and validate lifting machine certificates and maintenance programmes
• Brief crane operators, riggers and signalmen on safe procedures and enforce them
• Take corrective action on unsafe conditions and attend daily toolbox meetings
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and regulations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering from an accredited university
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in oil and gas or civil construction, with a proven record in lifting operations
• Lifting Supervisors Safety course completed (a must)
• APLO certification as required by regulations
• Recognized Rigging and Signalman course completed

Required skills

• Load planning, lifting equipment selection and risk assessment
• Supervision of a lifting team and coordination of lifting activities
• Proficiency in load calculation software and AutoCAD or similar design software
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience with lifting equipment inspection and maintenance
