Manager Diaspora Banking

About the role

Housing Finance Bank (Uganda) is looking for a Manager Diaspora Banking to lead the growth, profitability and strategic development of its Diaspora Banking portfolio. The role covers customer acquisition, relationship building, product innovation, partnership management and compliance with the bank's strategy, policies, regulations and risk frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Diaspora Banking business plan, covering growth strategies for liabilities, assets, revenue and customer acquisition.
• Drive portfolio growth and profitability by spotting market opportunities, reviewing performance trends and introducing new diaspora solutions.
• Lead acquisition, retention and relationship management of diaspora customers, including cross-selling housing and investment solutions.
• Oversight of credit origination in the diaspora segment, ensuring quality pipelines, complete documentation and adherence to credit policies.
• Build and manage brand ambassadors, strategic relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor market intelligence, competitors and customer trends, and recommend actions to protect and grow market share.
• Lead customer experience management and handle escalated customer queries and complaints.
• Oversee portfolio quality through performance, repayment behaviour and early warning indicators.
• Coach and develop team members and report business performance, portfolio reviews and pipeline updates to senior management.
• Deliver business and financial targets, including deposits, assets, revenue, portfolio quality and profitability, and manage the diaspora business budget and partner relationships.

Required profile

• Business degree in finance, commerce, business administration, economics, statistics, management or a relevant field; a certified banking qualification or Master's degree is an added advantage.
• At least 7 years' experience in banking or a similar financial services environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Relevant practical training in business growth in the financial services sector.
• Strong understanding of consumer banking, diaspora banking products, portfolio management, pricing, business development, customer value propositions and risk management.
• Advanced computer literacy, numerical and statistical skills, and good verbal and written communication.
• Assertive, self-starter personality, able to work under pressure and exercise sound judgment; impeccable integrity.
