QHSE Officer (Warehousing)

About the role

AGL, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (part of the MSC Group), is hiring a permanent, full-time Warehousing QHSE Officer in Uganda. The role supports the QHSE Manager in developing, piloting and implementing health, safety and environmental policies and initiatives on AGL Uganda sites, and promotes safe work behaviour among all employees.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the safe movement of materials, cargo, equipment and related on-site operations, including those involving suppliers, contractors and service providers.
• Develop and oversee lifting plans in line with LOLER/BS/ISO standards, inspect lifting accessories and guide supervisors, operators and drivers on safe practices.
• Carry out pre-operational and ongoing risk assessments on new sites, monitor sub-contractors and ensure weekly inspections and reporting.
• Investigate complaints and accidents, use 5-Why or fishbone analysis, and submit detailed reports to the QHSE Manager.
• Audit work under safe work permits, review accident and near-miss data, and propose corrective actions with resources and timelines.
• Ensure HSE inductions for new staff, contractors and visitors, maintain the safety bulletin board, and run quarterly emergency drills with records kept.
• Prepare monthly progress reports to the line manager covering QHSE KPIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science or equivalent.
• 5 years of work experience in a similar or related position.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
• Qualification in EMS and OHSAS implementation, and other relevant HSE qualifications.
• Fluency in English.

• Attention to detail and excellent training skills.
