Senior LV/HV Certified Electrical Technician (Oil & Gas)

About the role

Q-Sourcing, acting on behalf of its client EACOP, is recruiting a Senior (LV/HV) Certified Electrical Technician for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline project in Uganda. The position is full time, with a rotational schedule of 28 days on site and 28 days off site, based at pumping station sites and the marine storage and export terminal (MST). The technician works under the supervision of an Electrical Engineer and a site operations lead, and may travel to remote sites.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day operations of standby generators, UPS, BESS, grid supply and solar systems.
• Assist in monitoring, troubleshooting and diagnosing complex electrical systems such as MV and LV switchgears, VFDs, 3-phase motors, AC and DC batteries and control circuits.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment, including motors, emergency diesel generators, circuit breakers, fuses, control relays and control panels.
• Report work orders, activities and anomalies through the CMMS, and prepare daily and weekly maintenance reports.
• Ensure safe work practices, housekeeping and compliance with HSE policies, and take part in maintenance campaigns and permit-to-work procedures.
• Contribute to the annual electrical maintenance plan, assist in preparing shutdown procedures and give feedback on SOPs and spare parts.

Required profile

• Higher or ordinary diploma in electrical engineering or similar, with a recognized certificate from local authorities.
• Class B ERA permit is mandatory.
• 10 years of experience in oil and gas, power generation or mining.
• Proficiency in oral and written English.

Required skills

• HV, MV and power plant distribution experience.
• Good experience with MS Office.
