Regional Agriculture Officer – Central

About the role

The Regional Agriculture Officer will lead the planning, design and implementation of agricultural extension activities in partner communities across central Uganda. Working closely with the Venn team, procurement staff and local authorities, the officer will ensure climate‑resilient cropping and livestock interventions reach the last‑mile beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Venn team in designing and planning agriculture extension activities aligned with project budgets and timelines.
• Identify community needs, assess soil, water and topographical conditions, and propose feasible crop and livestock solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on composting, organic pesticides, soil and crop management, and animal breeding and care.
• Collaborate with procurement to develop and manage supply contracts for seeds, inputs and equipment.
• Monitor and evaluate ongoing gardens and farms, offering feedback to partners and local authorities to improve intervention quality.
• Document innovations and climate‑resilience practices for replication in other regions.

Required profile

• No prior professional experience required; entry‑level (junior) candidates are welcome.
• Strong understanding of basic agricultural technologies and household nutrition.
• Ability to work effectively with community members, government officers and project staff.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
