Senior Medical Officer

About the role

The Senior Medical Officer will serve as the primary physician for TotalEnergies EP Uganda and its expatriate workforce, providing comprehensive medical care, occupational health support, and emergency response across remote field sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver full‑time general practice and occupational health services to employees and dependents.
• Support field medical and evacuation activities, including emergency care and disaster response.
• Coordinate medical campaigns such as wellness programs and annual health checks.
• Maintain medical records, fitness certificates, and ensure confidentiality of health information.
• Assist the CMO, HSE, and HR Director with compliance to international health laws and medical regulations.
• Manage medical inventory, order supplies, and oversee timely delivery.
• Develop and maintain a medical network of approved health facilities in Uganda.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call emergency coverage and act on behalf of the CMO when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine & Surgery.
• Certification in Emergency Medicine, Disaster Medicine, and Traumatology.
• Minimum 10 years of experience leading an Emergency Medical Department or 5‑8 years in clinical medicine with remote site care.
• Proven experience in oil & gas on‑shore field operations.
• Knowledge of occupational health and medical risk management is an advantage.
• Fluency in English; French is desired.
