Swahili Teacher – Secondary School

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated Swahili Teacher to deliver the national secondary curriculum to O‑Level and A‑Level students. You will be responsible for fostering strong language skills and preparing learners for UNEB examinations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver Kiswahili lessons in line with the UNEB syllabus.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment schedules for assigned classes.
• Use varied teaching methods such as guided reading, role‑play, songs and debates to accommodate different learning styles.
• Set, administer and mark tests, assignments and examinations, providing timely feedback.
• Track learner performance, identify gaps and provide remedial support.
• Prepare students for national examinations (UCE/UACE) and internal assessments.
• Guide students in the study of Kiswahili literature, proverbs and oral traditions.
• Organise oral practice sessions, debates, drama festivals and language competitions.
• Coordinate procurement of Kiswahili textbooks and learning resources.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of teaching experience in secondary education.
• Familiarity with the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Kiswahili syllabus.
• Ability to design lesson plans, assessments and provide constructive feedback.
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor students interested in language‑related careers.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Kiswahili (reading, writing, speaking).
