Technical Assistant - Civil Works

About the role

Q-Sourcing Limited, trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec, a manpower management firm active in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan, is recruiting a skilled Technical Assistant in Kampala on behalf of its client Total Energies. The role covers supervision of civil works, technical documentation and site coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise camp upgrades, fuel storage facility upgrades and other technical works in the area of responsibility.
• Develop bills of quantities and other supporting technical documentation.
• Carry out technical analysis, support evaluations and coordinate with technical entities on activity planning and progress follow-up.
• Supervise site activities to ensure quality, health and safety compliance, budget and schedule targets are met.
• Take part in technical and project meetings, HSE meetings, SQM audits with contractors and toolbox talks.
• Answer design and construction contractor queries, keeping the Civil Engineer in the loop.
• Prepare and review contractor maintenance plans, validated with the Surface Logistics superintendent and the Civil Engineer.
• Follow up inspections and tests carried out by the contractor and coordinate with stakeholders and specialists.
• Help implement key performance indicator tools, maintain and update the department action plan and planning.
• Commit to HSE performance in line with TotalEnergies Group objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent (a Master's degree is an added advantage).
• More than 6 years of professional experience in civil engineering, building and civil/structural projects.
• Good knowledge of local environmental protection, health and safety at work and waste management legislation.
• Confident English and strong organisational and communication skills.
