Commercial Officer – Country Operations (Fintech Partners)

About the role

The Commercial Officer will lead on‑ground commercial activities, relationship building and operational support for Brightermonday Uganda’s fintech business in the country. As the market‑entry pioneer, you will establish the OTC trading platform, develop early customer relationships and lay the foundation for future Payment Service Provider operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design and execution of the country’s business strategy, starting with OTC operations and expanding to full PSP services.
• Identify and pursue new market opportunities that drive digital payment adoption.
• Represent the company in meetings with regulators, commercial banks, international partners, payment networks, merchants and fintech partners.
• Monitor cash positions and liquidity requirements to ensure smooth settlement of OTC trades and payment transactions.
• Track and report on KPIs such as OTC transaction volume, revenue growth, institutional client acquisition and customer retention.
• Assist in building regulatory relationships and preparing for licensing as a PSP.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 48 months of relevant experience in commercial or business development roles.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with regulators, banks and fintech stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience monitoring liquidity and cash flow for trading operations.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of representing the company in high‑stakes discussions.
