Deputy Head of Secondary – Pastoral (Kampala)

About the role

The Deputy Head of Secondary – Pastoral will play a key leadership role in the Secondary School, working closely with the Head of Secondary, Year Heads, Heads of Department and the wider leadership team to ensure every student feels known, supported and inspired beyond the academic curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Lead student voice and wellbeing initiatives across the secondary phase.
• Oversee enrichment and extracurricular provision, including assemblies, celebrations and event days.
• Coordinate Year 10 work‑experience programmes.
• Develop and maintain a positive, inclusive school culture.
• Provide pastoral leadership to Year Heads and Heads of Department.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Minimum five years’ teaching experience in an accredited international secondary school or a UK‑based school.
• At least two years in a formal middle or senior leadership position.
• Demonstrable experience of pastoral leadership or significant pastoral responsibility.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to child protection.
