Director of Growth – East Africa

About the role

Athena Infonomics is launching its AI‑focused public‑sector unit, APLYD, across East Africa. As Director of Growth you will be the first APLYD representative in the region, responsible for building the pipeline from the initial conversation with ministries, multilateral bodies or development finance institutions to a signed contract.

Key responsibilities

• Represent APLYD in East Africa and act as the primary point of contact for all institutional prospects.
• Own the full sales cycle – problem definition, scoping, proposal, negotiation, contracting and hand‑over to delivery teams.
• Decide which opportunities to pursue and set realistic technical expectations before commitments.
• Build and lead a regional growth team, starting with an Associate, Growth.
• Travel 40‑50% across the region and occasionally beyond to meet clients and partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading business development or growth functions in East Africa.
• Ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder negotiations with governments and development institutions.
• Strong track record of meeting revenue targets and building teams from scratch.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work across multiple East African capitals.
