Education Officer – Oruchinga & Isingiro (Southwest Uganda)

About the role

The Education Officer will lead the implementation, monitoring and reporting of education activities across Oruchinga and Isingiro, ensuring compliance with NRC policies and donor requirements. The role focuses on life‑skills, digital skills and TVET programmes for refugees and host‑community youth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation, monitoring and reporting of education activities in line with donor and organisational standards.
• Provide technical guidance on Life Skills, Digital Skills and i‑UPSHIFT, and develop training packages, implementation guidelines and quality‑assurance tools.
• Coordinate beneficiary identification, enrolment, retention, certification and transition pathways for TVET programmes.
• Supervise vocational training centres, conduct regular quality‑assurance visits and ensure compliance with curricula and standards.
• Promote inclusion, safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion and protection across all interventions.

Required profile

• University degree, preferably in Education or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of technical experience in education within humanitarian or recovery contexts.
• Experience in complex, volatile settings and knowledge of Uganda’s TVET policy framework and UVTAB certification processes.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in Life Skills, Digital Skills, i‑UPSHIFT and TVET implementation.
• Strong facilitation, mentoring and capacity‑building abilities.
• Experience with labour market assessments, employer engagement and apprenticeship management.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal).
