About the role

The Department of Economic Theory and Analysis at Makerere University is seeking a dedicated Lecturer to join its faculty. This full‑time position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising student research, and contributing to the department’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, examine and grade students in economics, statistics, and related subjects.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Mentor junior academic staff and provide guidance on teaching methods.
• Conduct original research and engage in community outreach activities.
• Write grant proposals to secure funding for departmental initiatives.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• PhD in Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Honours Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Entry‑level candidates with up to 24 months of relevant experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in data analysis using Stata and applied Stata programming.
• Ability to teach data analysis with R.
• Familiarity with EViews for econometric modelling.
