Programme Monitoring & Improvement Coordinator

About the role

GAIN is looking for a highly motivated Programme Monitoring & Improvement Coordinator to support the monitoring, learning and continuous improvement of projects across its Uganda portfolio. The role will work closely with project teams, the Country Director and the Knowledge Leadership team to design and implement robust monitoring frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee project monitoring activities across the Uganda portfolio.
• Support development of theories of change, results frameworks and monitoring plans.
• Ensure projects meet donor requirements, expected outputs and outcomes.
• Manage collection, analysis and interpretation of monitoring data.
• Conduct field monitoring visits to assess progress and performance.
• Track milestones, outputs and deliverables against work plans.
• Strengthen and adapt monitoring tools, systems and quality assurance processes.
• Assist implementing partners with monitoring, reporting and capacity strengthening.
• Ensure timely, high‑quality routine progress reporting.
• Contribute to annual work planning and budgeting.
• Prepare and review donor and internal performance reports.
• Support learning, dissemination of findings and programme improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) within international development programmes.
• Experience with market‑based projects and data‑driven programme improvement.
• Fluency in English and willingness to travel regularly to field locations.

Required skills

• Statistical and data analysis tools: SPSS, Stata, R, Python.
• Data visualisation: Power BI, Tableau.
• Electronic data collection platforms: SurveyCTO, Kobo Collect, ODK.
