Regional Senior Research Officer for East and Southeast Africa

About the role

IMPACT Initiatives is seeking a Regional Senior Research Officer to strengthen research quality across East and Southeast Africa. Based in Kampala, you will join the Research Quality Assurance Unit and support the delivery of high‑impact, user‑centred research programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the guardian of research quality, ethics and compliance for multi‑country projects.
• Provide technical guidance on data collection, GIS mapping and MEAL systems.
• Support country teams in implementing core quality standards and monitoring frameworks.
• Collaborate with communications and advocacy teams to amplify research findings.
• Prepare quality assurance reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in social sciences, public health, development studies or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, preferably in a multi‑country context.
• Proven ability to work independently and mentor junior staff.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to ethical standards.
