Managing Director

About the role

The Managing Director will act as the strategic business leader of a leading insurance brokerage in Uganda, overseeing General, Corporate and Life Insurance portfolios. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance and sustainable growth in a competitive market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute operational strategies that improve efficiency and strengthen market presence across all insurance lines.
• Lead business development initiatives, nurture client and partner relationships, and ensure delivery of tailored insurance solutions.
• Oversee underwriting, risk assessment, claims operations and maintain strong insurer relationships.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote ethical business practices.
• Drive technology innovation, digital transformation and data‑driven solutions to enhance client experience.
• Manage budgets, forecasts and cost structures to achieve profitability.
• Supervise regional operations across Uganda, expanding market reach and forging strategic partnerships.
• Build and develop high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Maintain high standards of claims management and client service.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management or related field (MBA preferred).
• At least 15 years of progressive senior operations leadership experience in insurance brokerage.
• Professional insurance qualifications such as FCII, ACII or an advanced diploma in Insurance.
