Customer Service Officer - Exports

About the role

AGL, a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring a permanent, full-time Customer Service Officer for its exports business in Kampala. The role serves local and international customers, resolves their queries, builds strong relationships and supports customer retention and the growth of the exports business.

Key responsibilities

• Create export files in the business software, check documents such as the letter of transhipment, bill of lading and commercial invoices, and launch printing and collection of the file.
• Monitor the status of each file, follow up with process stakeholders according to SOPs, and track verification, tally, customs invoicing, customs payment, the customs delivery order and proof of delivery.
• Issue the transport delivery order to the Delivery Clerk, collect proof of delivery, and follow up on services invoicing.
• Update the business software after each step, recording customs duties, taxes, declaration numbers and delivery order details.
• Check supplier and client invoices against quotations, compare disbursements with the quotation and escalate significant discrepancies to the next level.
• Ensure all documents, emails and correspondence are properly filed and complete, and alert management to operational issues.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in clearing and forwarding.
• Organised, self-starter, problem solver and team player who can work to tight deadlines.
• Excellent communicator.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Good use of email.
