Freight Forwarding Operations Officer (Colog Staff)

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Freight Forwarding Operations Officer (Colog Staff) in Kampala, Uganda. This is a full-time, permanent position focused on freight forwarding operations.

Key responsibilities

• Discrepancy management: identify and immediately report inconsistencies in cargo documentation or container details, escalate issues through the Red Flag procedure and coordinate resolution with supervisors or departments.
• File management: open, update and close AICD files accurately, keeping documentation linked to the correct file and archiving closed files; generate accurate truck loading orders based on verified shipment details.
• Permits: process exit permits once cargo clearance, documentation and authorisation requirements are met.
• Reporting and stock control: update and transmit daily stock reports, maintain accurate client stock records, reconcile them with warehouse or yard inventory, and support client KPIs while reporting risks to management.
• Compliance and ISO support: follow documented procedures and SOPs, keep records in line with ISO document retention policies, and assist in internal audits.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in clearing and forwarding.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.
• Certificate in clearing and forwarding, or a Diploma in Transport and Logistics Management or equivalent.
• Organised, detail-oriented, efficient and accurate, with strong problem-solving and communication skills, integrity and a high sense of urgency.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
