ICD Supervisor – Freight Forwarding Operations

About the role

AGL, a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring an ICD / Logistics Supervisor in Kampala, Uganda. The post covers the Inland Container Depot or logistics yard, overseeing daily operations so that cargo and containers are handled, stored and dispatched smoothly. It is a full-time, permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily ICD or yard activities such as container handling, loading, offloading, stacking and dispatch, and set up shift schedules and task assignments.
• Plan and allocate heavy equipment (reach stackers, forklifts, cranes, trucks), monitor utilisation and coordinate with maintenance to avoid downtime.
• Track container movements in real time, ensure accurate documentation, run inventory audits and reconcile stock.
• Enforce company policies, safety protocols and regulatory compliance, and carry out compliance audits.
• Monitor performance against daily and weekly targets, analysing throughput, delays and efficiency.
• Inspect the yard regularly for stacking integrity, equipment condition and safety, and enforce housekeeping standards.
• Escalate operational issues, equipment breakdowns and delays to the Head of Operations, run root cause analyses and propose improvements.
• Help design yard layouts and stacking strategies to maximise capacity and reduce handling times.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport and Logistics Management, Business Administration or a related field; CILT or EACFFPC is an advantage.
• Minimum 2-4 years in logistics, container yard operations, freight forwarding or supply chain, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
