Procurement Assistant (M/F)

About the role

AGL, a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Procurement Assistant in Kampala, Uganda. The role provides administrative and operational support to the procurement function, ensuring timely processing of requests, accurate documentation, supplier coordination and compliance with company policies and Ugandan procurement regulations. The contract is fixed term.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing support: request RFQs, prepare bid documents, track procurement schedules and prepare comparative bid analyses
• Draft purchase orders, follow up on approvals and coordinate transfers to offsite locations with the Transport Department
• Procure, store, manage and distribute stationery, and receive goods and coordinate deliveries
• Communicate with suppliers on inquiries, quotations, delivery timelines and order confirmations, and maintain the pre-qualified supplier database
• Keep procurement documentation complete and properly filed, support compliance with Ugandan procurement laws and internal controls, and assist the Procurement Officer with audit preparations
• Monitor stock levels, support stock reconciliation and prepare weekly and monthly procurement reports
• Enter procurement data into ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA and Esker, and support digital filing and electronic procurement workflows

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles (internships included)
• Knowledge of procurement policies, processes and regulatory compliance requirements
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication and negotiation skills, and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Required skills

• Familiarity with ERP systems is an added advantage
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
