Finance & Billing Officer

About the role

Praecip, a school discovery platform for Uganda, is hiring a Finance & Billing Officer in Kampala. The role manages billing for schools that subscribe to and advertise on the platform, keeps the books accurate and ensures money comes in on time. It is full-time, on-site and permanent, reporting to the Finance Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and send accurate invoices for school subscriptions, featured placements and campaigns in line with signed agreements
• Track receivables and follow up on overdue payments while keeping good relationships with schools
• Reconcile enrolment-based commissions and promo-code results against school admissions records each month
• Record and reconcile payments received by bank transfer and mobile money, and keep the ledger up to date
• Process supplier payments, staff expense claims and petty cash with proper approvals and documentation
• Prepare monthly management reports covering revenue, receivables, expenses and cash flow forecasts that reflect school-term cycles
• Support statutory compliance, including VAT, PAYE, withholding tax and NSSF filings, working with external accountants and auditors
• Help design and improve billing processes, controls and templates as the company grows

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• CPA(U) or ACCA completed or in progress
• 2+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable or general accounting, ideally in a services, media or technology business
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or similar
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including reconciliations and reporting
• Working knowledge of Uganda Revenue Authority requirements and NSSF obligations
