Track and Trace Officer (Freight Forwarding Operations)

About the role

AGL, a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Track and Trace Officer for its freight forwarding operations in Kampala, Uganda. This is a full-time, fixed-term contract position focused on monitoring trucks, reporting their movements and keeping clients informed.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure drivers comply with company regulations, identify on-road exceptions and take immediate corrective action
• Track vehicles via GPS: connect to the IVMS daily to check each truck's position (on route, at site, returning empty)
• Submit daily, weekly and monthly reports to the supervisor on vehicle movements and problems, including daily 09:00 reports to the Mombasa team, transit times, mileage and alerts such as speed and night driving
• Monitor the performance of about 50 trucks and drivers, reporting daily violations to QHSE Bollore and transporters, and track them weekly and monthly
• Receive transport and loading forecasts from the Mombasa team, consolidate them into a tracking report and share it with the client
• Alert the client twice a day for convoys approaching the site, with updated ETAs, and confirm convoy management rules with the convoy leader
• Compare transporter tracking against IVMS data and contact transporters about gaps or distances
• Prepare the TSO from tracking documents and take part in the transporter invoice approval process

Required profile

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role in a busy environment
• Certificate in Logistics
• Bachelor's degree in information systems or another relevant discipline
• Certificate in Microsoft Office packages
