Business Development Lead (Sales & Marketing Management)

About the role

AGL, Africa Global Logistics, a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Business Development Lead (M/F) in Uganda. The role covers business growth and acquisition, strategic account management, market intelligence and cross-functional collaboration within the freight and logistics sector.

Key responsibilities

• Build and run a pipeline of new business across assigned verticals and trade lanes (import/export, sea, air, logistics, contract logistics, ICD and project cargo)
• Identify, qualify and convert leads into profitable accounts through prospecting, solution design and negotiation, meeting TEU, revenue and margin targets
• Prepare end-to-end commercial proposals, including pricing, quotations and RFQ responses
• Map key customers and decision-makers, maintain existing client relationships and identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities
• Work with the Business Development Manager and other business heads on customer-specific account plans
• Analyse market and competitor intelligence to support pricing strategies and sector development plans (FMCG, retail, healthcare, agribusiness, oil and gas)
• Collaborate with Operations, Customer Service and Finance teams, and take part in planning meetings
• Support CRM adoption by tagging prospects, logging interactions and updating pipeline stages
• Produce weekly and monthly reports on pipeline performance, conversion rates and customer activity

Required profile

• 2 years of experience
• Business degree or diploma in Sales & Marketing
• Knowledge of the freight industry
• Entrepreneurial, results-driven and customer-focused, with integrity and problem-solving skills
