Cashier

About the role

A full-time Cashier is needed in Kapeeka, Luwero District, Uganda, reporting to the Finance Manager or Finance Supervisor. The role covers processing company payments, keeping accurate financial records, organising payment documentation and coordinating routine banking matters. It calls for accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Process approved payments according to financial procedures, checking instructions, documents, amounts and approvals, and keep accurate records of each payment.
• File and maintain payment vouchers, receipts, invoices and bank slips, and help prepare payment summaries and support internal reviews and audits.
• Liaise with banks on routine transactions, follow up pending payments and transfers, and escalate banking issues to the supervisor.
• Double-check amounts, beneficiary details and account information, and report errors, duplicates or suspicious transactions.
• Support the finance and administration teams, keep records up to date and perform other cashiering duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Banking or a related field preferred; a relevant certificate in accounting, bookkeeping or cashiering may be considered.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Cashier; experience in a manufacturing, production or trading environment is an advantage.
• Familiarity with bank transfers, payment documentation, filing systems and basic financial controls is desirable.
• Willingness to work at the company's production facility in Kapeeka, to provide verifiable references and to undergo background verification.

Required skills

• Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to maintain accurate financial records and organise documents.
• Attention to detail, honesty, organisation, good time management and discretion with confidential information.
