Head of Risk

About the role

FINCA Impact Finance, a global network of microfinance institutions and banks, is hiring a Head of Risk. The role establishes, implements and enforces an enterprise-wide risk management framework covering strategic, operational, market, liquidity, reputational, credit and compliance risk, and leads the Risk Management and Internal Controls Department.

Key responsibilities

• Support the business in developing risk management strategies and tools, and oversee enforcement of risk policies and limits
• Prepare and report Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reports on financial and non-financial risks
• Guide the RCSA process and provide an independent view of proposed business plans to the Board Risk Committee and Executive Committee
• Drive upgrades to risk policies, systems, pricing and costing models, and build MIS systems to monitor credit, market and operational risks
• Manage the department's human capital, performance and development of direct reports
• Coordinate policy and procedural manuals, maintain a policy library, and run Risk Register reviews for lending, customer accounts, procurement and other areas
• Support business resumption and continuity plans, and oversee incident management and remediation
• Ensure compliance risk is tracked against changes in laws, regulations and best practice

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Credit or Finance; postgraduate degree an added advantage
• Five years of experience in internal control, audit or risk management, preferably in financial services
• Three years in a management or leadership role
• Fluency in English; availability to travel up to 25% of the time
