Reach Stacker Operator (M/F)

About the role

AGL, a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Reach Stacker Operator in Kampala, Uganda. The role is central to the efficient and secure handling of containerised cargo in logistics facilities, operating heavy machinery to load, unload, lift, stack and move containers. It is a full-time, permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate the reach stacker to load, unload, lift, stack and transport containers (20ft, 40ft and specialised units) within the yard, warehouse, terminal or project site, respecting weight limits (up to 45 tons) and height restrictions.
• Follow safe handling practices: secure loads, monitor stability, avoid overloads, assess risks for each lift and position equipment correctly.
• Carry out daily pre- and post-operation inspections of the machine, including hydraulics, brakes, tyres, lights, horns, backup alarms and safety guards.
• Report mechanical issues, wear and tear or safety defects immediately to the maintenance team or supervisor, help with basic troubleshooting and take part in scheduled maintenance.
• Organise and stack containers in designated bays according to yard plans, using yard management software or GPS for accurate placement.
• Follow yard signalman or yard supervisor instructions, work with truck drivers and logistics officers, and comply with company HSE policies.
• Keep the cab and exterior clean, lubricate properly and store the equipment securely at the end of each shift.
• Obey yard traffic rules, speed limits of 10-15 km/h and signage, and yield to pedestrians and other vehicles.
• Support general yard tasks such as inventory checks, emergency drills and peak-period loading/unloading, and record shift reports, fuel consumption, hours worked and incidents.
