IT Officer

About the role

CIC Insurance Group, an insurance and financial services organization listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, is hiring an IT Officer in Kampala. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the role provides reliable and efficient IT support, maintains the technology infrastructure, ensures system availability and security, and supports the effective use of technology across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support to staff and resolve hardware, software, network and system issues; manage user accounts, access rights, passwords and permissions.
• Maintain computers, printers, telecommunications equipment and other IT devices, and keep accurate records of incidents and resolutions.
• Monitor and maintain IT systems, networks, servers and internet connectivity, applying routine maintenance, updates, patches and upgrades.
• Implement and monitor IT security controls, including antivirus, security updates, backups and recovery procedures, and report security threats and breaches.
• Support IT projects, system upgrades and digital transformation, and identify opportunities to automate and improve business processes.
• Coordinate with IT vendors and service providers, and maintain an inventory of equipment, software and licenses.
• Document IT systems, configurations, incidents and assets, prepare periodic IT performance and security reports, and support business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in IT support, systems administration, networking or a similar role.
