Team Leader – Child Protection

About the role

The Protection Team Leader (Child Protection) will lead and coordinate child protection activities across Imvepi and Rhino Camp refugee settlements, ensuring high‑quality, safe, and accountable services that align with humanitarian principles and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain effective relationships with donors, UN agencies, government authorities and NGOs; represent DRC in protection sector forums.
• Develop work plans, procurement plans and budget tracking mechanisms; oversee implementation of case management, psychosocial support, positive parenting and adolescent life‑skills programmes.
• Provide technical supervision to child protection staff, ensure compliance with safeguarding and child participation standards, and monitor activity progress against indicators.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports, manage the project budget and coordinate with finance for expenditure monitoring.
• Lead staff performance management, conduct field visits, deliver coaching and training, and foster a safeguarding‑compliant work environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience working with refugees or vulnerable communities, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Bachelor’s degree in law, social sciences, development studies, guidance and counselling or a related field.
• Proven experience in child protection case management and knowledge of protection principles and safeguarding standards.
• Strong leadership, coordination and reporting skills, with ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

• Basic data management tools.
